Mike Morales

Person with long, curly dark hair wearing round, black glasses over his hair like Cousin Itt.

What started as a boy writing songs and poems in his little gray journal when he got home from high school has turned into a man making those lyrics and melodies come to life for others to hear.

Mike Morales (no affiliation with the web-slinger) takes pride in his work, carefully piecing together lyrics from the deep recesses of his mind, exploring any and all tunes that emerge from the borderline concerning chaos in the even deeper recesses up there, and finding ways to spread his love of laughing along the way (which coincidentally also comes from the absolute deepest ones if you look closely enough with a reliable flashlight).

Recently (unless he’s forgotten to update this page in a while), he has embarked on his journey to make his voice heard by anyone who’ll lend an ear or two to his cause. With his debut album Lie in It marking the beginning of this journey, he aims to expand upon this sprouting corpus of work until it grows to be the sturdy tree he knows it may yet become.

Along the way, he hopes to spread the message he once desperately needed to hear as much as anyone:

Vitia humana amplectere

(‘Embrace human flaws’ for those not born in the 50s BCE)

As we strive to become the best versions of ourselves we can be, it is important to remember that our mistakes are part of our stories. Whether in our work or throughout life in general, we must remember to expect mistakes and build upon them, to learn from them, rather than forget them and pretend they never happened. Of course it is important to put one’s best foot forward and eliminate the easily avoided mistakes, but when we hear the little hiccups, we are reminded of the humanity in the creator. To err is human, and to admire error is to admire humanity.

Is this just Mike’s poorly disguised attempt to explain why his music has a bunch of mistakes in it? Could be. Could also be far more than that if you’re willing to humor him.

Anyway, Mike hopes y’all enjoy his music as much as he enjoyed making it!
